What is a cut pile carpet?
Cut pile carpeting is the best-selling type of carpet style. Looped carpet fibres at the top are cut to create a cut pile with yarn bundles that stand straight. Pre-shearing cut pile several times creates a luxurious appearance. Cut pile is less resistant to crushing than other types of carpet which makes it desirable.
Does this carpet wear well?
Textured plush and textured Saxony are both Frieze carpets with less density. They stand up well to wear but will crush in heavy traffic. Fibres that are sheared and not textured like a Frieze are called velvets, plush and Saxony. These are usually a single colour, dense and soft to the touch.
Is this type of carpet good?
This type of carpet works well for a whole-house type of carpet. When selecting a new carpet, one of the most important things to look at is the twist. Because it is the twist that helps it stand up and resist matting and crushing. The tighter the twist, the more durable your carpet will be.
